Today the Washington Nationals announced that manager Davey Johnson will return to manage the team in 2012.

Halfway through this past season, Jim Riggleman resigned as Nationals manager and the 68 year old Johnson stepped in to fill the void. Under Johnson, the Nationals had a record of 40-43 and finished with an overall record of 80-81.

Johnson still has an option built into his contract to allow him to manage into the 2013 season.

Johnson also said that he will return his entire coaching staff with the exception of bench coach Pat Corrales. Corrales will remain with the franchise but not at the major league level.
