Maroney, Balmer Try Out for Redskins

TheRedzone.org reported today that running back Laurence Maroney and defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer tried out for the Washington Redskins.

Maroney, formerly of the New England Patriots, would only add to an already impressive backfield that the Redskins have. Do they need Maroney? I don't think so. They are probably giving him a look so they can have another shifty back that can also bring some power.

Balmer, a former first-round pick for the 49ers and has recently played for the Seahawks and Panthers, will a great addition for the Redskins in the trenches. In terms of tackles, the Redskins a little slim (no pun intended). Barry Cofield is a force down low but he can't do it all. The addition of Balmer would only make an already great defensive front better.
