Let's Play Ball!!!

Photo: MLB Google Plus Page
This one may be a day late, but it still means the same nonetheless. Baseball is back. And thank goodness it is. The crack of the bat, the whistling of the ball as it flies through the air, and the roar of the crowd as the hero does his home run trot around the bases. Ah yes...it's beautiful.

With the return of America's Pastime comes the return of hot dogs, brews, nice weather, and good times. Some of my favorite summer memories have happened at the ball park with family, loved ones, and friends. It's a sensation and a feeling that you can only get at the ball park and can only be explained while you're there.

This year, the usual front runners like the Red Sox and Yankees are not the front runners coming into the regular season. With the recent rise of the Nationals, they have climbed to the top of many experts "World Series Watch" lists. And let us not forget about the Rangers, Angles, Giants, and Cardinals as contenders for the sports annual crown this October.

Yesterday, Bryce Harper kicked off his season in style with a stellar two-homer performance in the Nationals Opening Day win against the Marlins where ace Stephen Strasburg retired 19 straight batters in a scoreless effort on the mound.

On the opposite side of the country, the Angles newly revamped lineup that consists of names like Trout, Pujols, and Hamilton, couldn't quite find their swing as they fell in their Opening Day game.

One of the biggest storylines from Opening Day came from the Bronx. For the first time since the early 1980's the Bronx Bombers, New York Yankees, lost an Opening Day game at home when they got plastered by the Red Sox 8-2.

As many other teams hold their opening day festivities today, it will be yet another reminder that the greatest time of the year has returned. The flowers are blooming, the trees are getting their leaves back, the sun is shining, and boys are returning to the diamond.

It's a simple game, really. A pitcher throws the ball, a player with a stick tries to hit the ball out of the park, and a player on defense tries to catch it in a giant oven mitt. But, there is something about that simple game that makes it magical and majestic. Maybe it's the atmosphere, maybe it's the players, maybe it's the people that you enjoy those moments with.

It's something that we'll never know for sure. But, there is one great thing that we can all agree on and that is that baseball is back. And with that, there's only one thing left to say...

LET'S PLAY BALL!!!!!

  4. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all.
However think about if you added some great visuals or videos to give your posts more, "pop"!
Your content is excellent but with images and video clips,
this blog could undeniably be one of the very best in its
    field. Wonderful blog!

  5. I believe what you posted made a bunch of sense. However, what about this?
suppose you wrote a catchier title? I mean, I don't want to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added something that makes people want more? I mean "Let's
Play Ball!!!" is kinda plain. You should look at Yahoo's home page and watch how they create news headlines to grab viewers interested. You might add a video or a pic or two to grab readers interested about everything've got to say. Just my opinion, it might make your blog a little livelier.
